Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee visited Shelbyville on Thursday as part of a statewide campaign tour, speaking to a small group of local citizens on the south porch of Bedford County Courthouse. The visitors had gathered on the south lawn but moved to the porch to avoid the rain.

Lee is best known as chairman of Lee Company, a mechanical contractor with 1,200 employees providing heating, air conditioning and electrical services.

But on this visit, he emphasized his background in Hereford cattle farming, and arrived for his Shelbyville appearance on a tractor.
