First gubernatorial candidate to open Shelby County office highlights commitment to area

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Today, Williamson County businessman and farmer Bill Lee opened his Shelby County office on Poplar Avenue in Memphis.  The first gubernatorial candidate to publicly open an office in Shelby County, Lee continued to echo his commitment to the area. At the event, Lee also announced additions to his campaign team for Shelby County and West Tennessee.

“I am so pleased to open this office for my campaign for governor,” said Lee. “I have deep roots in the area, and it was important to me that my first major office outside of Williamson County be right here.”

Along with opening his office, Lee announced the addition of key leaders in Shelby County for his gubernatorial campaign.  Lang Wiseman, former Shelby County Republican Chairman and local attorney will serve as Shelby County Chairman. Horace Tipton will serve as the Shelby County Field Director for the campaign.  Tipton is a native Memphian.  A graduate of Texas Christian University, he has worked in the Texas House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide and most recently worked for the Kevin Vaughn for State House campaign.

County Captains will include Karen DunavantElaine Ervins, and Rieta Selberg.

“I’m honored to serve as Bill Lee’s Shelby County Chairman,” said Wiseman. “Bill has been meeting with leaders and voters in our community for months now, and his presence here shows he is continuing to follow through on his commitment to this area as governor.”

Last month, Lee was the first gubernatorial candidate to release a unique and detailed plan for Memphis and Shelby County.  The commitment covers multiple topics including a comprehensive education plan for the region, a consistent presence and focus in West Tennessee, active engagement with law enforcement, a focus on infrastructure and economic development and constant engagement with the faith community.
