Lee Announces Co-Chairs, Additions to Veterans Advisory Coalition

Lee to host veterans roundtable meetings across Tennessee

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Today, Williamson County businessman and farmer Bill Lee announced the addition of 31 veterans to the Veterans for Bill Lee Coalition. Building on the team announced last month, the coalition now includes 53 Tennesseans, including military veterans across every branch of service in all corners of the state.

“It is humbling to have these tremendous leaders join our team,” said Lee. “This Veterans Day, Maria and I thank these, and all of the 500,000 veterans who call Tennessee home for their service and their commitment to our state and our communities.”

The Honorary Chairman of the coalition is Major General (Ret.) Gary Harrell of Washington County. A decorated officer of the U.S. Army, Gen. Harrell served our nation for nearly 35 years, holding command of 1st SFOD-D (“Delta Force”) and serving in combat operations in Panama, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Joining him in leadership are:

The Veterans for Bill Lee Coalition will also be hosting roundtable meetings in each grand division of the state, beginning in January of next year. These meetings will be opportunities for veterans and their families to discuss local and state solutions on how Tennessee can better serve our veterans.

“My goal is for Tennessee to be the best state in the country for our nation’s veterans to live and work. To get there, my administration will take the time to hear directly from veterans and their families. They will inform how we approach not just veterans services, but how we can better integrate the veterans community into our vision for economic development, education, and public safety.” Lee continued.

“Bill has shown tremendous leadership in his business as a CEO, and he’s demonstrated that a real leader listens more than he talks. He’s committed to listening to the concerns of the veterans community and we’re looking forward to getting a productive and effective conversation going across Tennessee,” said Middle Tennessee Co-Chair, ret. Colonel Thomas B. Vaughn (Rock Island).

Together, the Veterans for Bill Lee Coalition represents over 300 years of military service including but not limited to experience in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia, Desert Storm, and the Vietnam War.
