Bill Lee Announces Statewide Law Enforcement Coalition

Includes Sheriffs, Police, District Attorneys and Public Safety Leaders

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – After addressing the Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association today, conservative businessman, farmer and Republican gubernatorial nominee Bill Lee announced a statewide coalition of more than 70 law enforcement leaders including sheriffs, police, and district attorneys.

Throughout his campaign, Lee has talked about the importance of safe neighborhoods being a top concern for Tennesseans, and this Law Enforcement Coalition will serve as key advisors in fighting crime and improving safety in Tennessee.

“As Maria and I travel to every county, Tennesseans consistently want three things: a good job, a good school for their children, and a safe neighborhood,” said Lee. “We can’t make the first two a reality if our neighborhoods aren’t safe, and I’m proud to work with the men and women in our law enforcement community to tackle our toughest public safety issues.”

In addition to law enforcement personnel, the coalition also includes prison reform advocates who work closely with prison ministry programs to reduce recidivism rates in Tennessee.

“The foremost role of government under Tennessee’s Constitution is public safety, and as prosecutors, we are excited to work with Bill Lee on these important issues,” said Attorney General Russell Johnson. “Bill’s plans to address the criminal recidivism rate will ultimately reduce our jail and prison populations and save money for our taxpayers.”

Coalition members hail from each of Tennessee’s three Grand Divisions and represent a broad spectrum of experience and perspective.

“I support Bill because he will run the office of governor like he is running his campaign – open, honest, and fair,” said Jerri Siegrist, the highest-ranking female, commissioned TBI agent in Tennessee history. “He is a man of integrity who the law enforcement community can get behind and support.”
